Destroyer HMS Wolverine (D 78)

HMS Wolverine (Lt.Cdr. J.M. Rowland, RN) attacked the German submarine U-A with depth charges south off Iceland. This attack is often credited to have resulted in the loss of the famous U-47 but this is not true.
5 Apr 1941
The German submarine U-76 was sunk south of Iceland, in position 58º35'N, 20º20'W, by depth charges from the British destroyer HMS Wolverine (Lt.Cdr. J.M. Rowland, RN) and the British sloop HMS Scarborough (Lt.Cdr. A.P. Northney, RN).
