| Notes on event | At 06.10 hours on 10 September 1939 the Goodwood (Master Harold Stevendale Hewson) struck a mine laid on 5 September by U-15 and sank one mile southeast of Flamborough Head. The master and 22 crew members were picked up by a fishing boat and landed at Bridlington. On 8 December 1939 the British steam merchant Middlesbro (989 grt) sank after a collision with the wreck of Goodwood about one mile north of Flamborough Head. There were no casualties, all crew members were picked up by the Swedish steam merchant Runeborg. | ||
