History Completed in May 1920 as British Bratton Castle for Union-Castle Mail SS Co, London. 1931 sold to Greece and renamed Proteus for Atlanticos SS Co, Syra. 1932 renamed Mount Taurus and registered in Panama. 1936 transferred to Atlanticos SS Co & Tramp Shipping Development Co (Kulukundis Shipping Co), Syra. 
Notes on loss At 23.00 hours on 17 Nov, 1942, U-264 fired a spread of three torpedoes at two overlapping ships in convoy ONS-144 and heard three detonations. However, only one torpedo hit and sank the Mount Taurus
