History In 1939 the Dutch Batavier III was sold to Panama and renamed El Sonador
Notes on loss The El Sonador was reported missing after 17 Feb, 1940 east of the Shetlands.
At 00.23 hours on 18 February, U-61 torpedoed a steamer of 3000 tons east of the Shetlands. This must have been the El Sonador.

* Estimated position shown here is based on positions of losses in a roughly the same German grid code. It may be a bit off but should give a good idea as to where the attack took place.
