| Notes on loss | At 22.02 hours on 28 Mar, 1943, U-81 fired a spread of two torpedoes at the Rousdi and hit her with one torpedo in the stern. The vessel disappeared in a great explosion and debris fell on the U-boat, wounding the war correspondent standing on the bridge slightly at the knee. The U-boat had missed the vessel with a first torpedo at 21.43 hours. The master was the only survivor. | ||
