Notes on loss At 14.59 hours on 10 Nov, 1944, the Godafoss from the storm scattered convoy UR-142 was hit by one LUT torpedo from U-300 off Reykjanes and sank within seven minutes. The ship had stopped against orders to rescue survivors from the burning Shirvan when torpedoed. 14 crew members and ten passengers, among them a family of five (two young doctors returning from Harvard and their 3 children) were lost.
