| History | On 15 Aug, 1942, the steam merchant Proletarij was requisitioned as transport by the Soviet Navy and was used in the Northern Fleet. | ||
| Notes on loss | At 00.15 hours on 5 Dec, 1944, the Proletarij in convoy PK-20 was hit by one FAT torpedo from U-995 about 15 miles north of Tsyp-Navolok Cape. The ship was probably again hit by a torpedo at 02.03 hours in grid AC 8579 and sank in 30 seconds after a coup de grâce hit at 04.16 hours in grid AC 8821. 29 crew members were lost. The master and 23 survivors were picked up by the Soviet submarine chaser MO-426, but the master and another men later died. | ||
