History Built as Indian Transport, 1929 renamed Nagos, 1934 renamed Thetis A. 
Notes on loss At 18.18 hours on 14 Jul, 1940, the unescorted Thetis A. was hit amidships by one G7e torpedo from U-52 and sank in 5 minutes west-southwest of the Scillies after the survivors abandoned ship in the starboard lifeboat. The ship had been spotted at 16.33 hours and attacked with a G7a torpedo at 18.13 hours, but the torpedo malfunctioned.
