| Notes on loss | At 01.17 hours on 14 Apr, 1941, the unescorted Ville de Liège (Master C.P. Peterson) was hit aft by one of two torpedoes fired by U-52 about 700 miles east of Cape Farewell. At 02.10 hours, the ship sank burning after being hit by a G7a coup de grâce at 01.30 hours. The master, nine crew members and two passengers were the only survivors. | ||
