Personal information
Son of Karsten and Inga Kausland, of Bergen. He survived the sinking of Brandanger while in the Merchant Navy, but afterwards joined the Royal Norwegian Navy on 6 January 1941 and survived the sinking of HNoMS Bath later that year. He was lost while serving aboard the Norwegian submarine HNoMS Uredd, which failed to return from patrol in February 1943.
