History Completed in October 1910 as Clydemhor for Clydeside SS Co Ltd, Glasgow. 1913 renamed Bowling for Rankine Line Ltd, Glasgow. From September 1914 to February 1919 requisitioned by the Admiralty as an ammunition carrier. Afterwards sold to George Gibson & Co Ltd, Glasgow. 
Notes on event

The Bowling (Master James Scott) left Leith and was reported missing thereafter.

At 23.28 hours on 19 Nov 1939, U-13 hit the foreship of a vessel with one G7a torpedo about 6 miles north-northeast of Longstone, Outer Farne Islands. There was a massive explosion that broke the ship in two and caused her to sink within 40 seconds. The target was reported as darkened tanker of about 2000 tons with a full cargo, this must have been the Bowling, which had her machinery aft.
