Notes on event

At 09.44 hours on 16 February 1942 the unescorted Tia Juana (Master George Milbanke) was hit on starboard side forward by one G7a torpedo from U-502, caught fire and sank quickly about 25 miles southwest of Punta Macolla, Venezuela. The master and 16 crew members were lost. Nine crew members were rescued and landed at Maracaibo.
