| Notes on event | At 15.30 hours on 14 March 1945 the Magne (Master Valentin Eriksson) in convoy FS-1756 was hit on the starboard side aft by one torpedo from U-714 off St. Abbey Head. The stern broke off and the ship (armed with two machine guns) sank within five minutes, capsizing to starboard. The survivors abandoned ship in the starboard lifeboat and were picked up in rough seas by the British coastal tanker Acclivity. The U-boat was located by escorts shortly after the attack and sunk later that day. | ||
