| History | In September 1939, the whaler Sotra of South Georgia Co Ltd (Chr. Salvesen & Co), Leith was requisitioned by the Royal Navy and converted to a M/S trawler. | ||
| Notes on loss | At 21.46 hours on 29 Jan, 1942, U-431 attacked the convoy TA-21 off Bardia and hit HMS Sotra (T/Lt Frederick Roy Linfield, RNR) with one torpedo. The vessel exploded and sank with the loss of the crew, six of them Norwegian. | ||
