History Built as Ashleigh, 1936 renamed Kingston Hill, 1937 renamed Stavros 
Notes on loss At 13.57 hours on 14 May, 1942, the unescorted Stavros was hit amidships by one of two torpedoes from U-593. She was en route in Swiss charter and the U-boat noticed the neutrality markings only after the hit and immediately stopped the attack. The ship was later salved and repaired.
