History Completed May 1942 for US War Shipping Administration (WSA), lend-leased on bareboat charter to British Ministry of War Transport (MoWT). 
Notes on loss On 25 Jan, 1944, the unescorted Fort la Maune (Master James William Binns OBE) was struck by one torpedo from U-188 and sunk east-northeast of Socotra Island. The master, 48 crew members and seven gunners landed on the Arabian coast and were brought by HMS Nigella (K 19) (Lt C.L.L. Davies) to Aden, arriving on 6 February.
