| Notes on loss | At 10.37 hours on 24 Sep, 1939, the neutral Getrud Bratt was stopped with machine gun fire by U-4 in the Skagerrak. The crew was given 15 minutes to abandon ship, because she was carrying contraband. The Germans had no scuttling charges left and used a torpedo to sink the ship, but the first two G7a torpedoes missed. The third G7a torpedo hit and sank Gertrud Bratt 12 miles southeast of Jomfruland, Norway. | ||
