| Notes on loss | At 03.26 hours on 3 Sep, 1940, the unescorted Ulva (Master Henry Barnfather) was hit amidships by one G7e torpedo from U-60 and sank slowly about 180 miles west-northwest of Inishtrahull. The Germans observed a heavy detonation that sent debris into the air, some of it falling close to the U-boat. Three crew members were lost. The master and 16 crew members landed at Castlebay, Isle of Barra, Hebrides. | ||
