The German submarine U-128 was sunk in the South Atlantic south of Pernambuco, in approximate position 10.00S, 35.35W, by gunfire from the US destroyers USS Moffett and USS Jouett, and depth charges from two Mariner aircraft (Sqdn VP-74/P-6/P-5). (see map)
