On 23 August 1942 USS Blue (Cdr. Harold Nordmark Williams, USN) was scuttled in position 09º17'S, 160º02'E after being torpedoed by the Japanese destroyer Kawakaze (offsite link) in Savo Sound, Solomons the day before, 9 crewmembers lost their lives.
