HrMs De Ruyter (Kapitein-luitenant ter Zee (Cdr.) Eugène Edouard Bernard Lacomblé) was sunk by Japanese cruisers during the Battle of Java Sea, along with light cruiser Java and destroyer Kortenaer. 375 of the crew died and 113 were rescued by IJNS Yukikaze/ Or swim ashore and 2 are rescued later by the USS S 37
