| History | HrMs De Ruyter (Cdr. Eugène Edouard Bernard Lacomblé) was sunk by Japanese cruisers during the Battle of Java Sea, along with light cruiser Java and destroyer Kortenaer. The ship sank at 0230 hours in the morning of 28 february. 345 crewmembers perished.
