| History | USS Grenadier (Lt.Cdr. John Allison Fitzgerald) was hit by depth charges from a Japanese aircraft in the Straits of Malacca and heavily damaged. The boat surfaced the next day after attempted repairs and was scuttled in sight of two oncoming Japanese vessels in position 06º30'N, 97º40'E. 74 survivors. All but 4 survived a tough time in Japanese hands. |
