| History | USS R-17 was transferred to the Royal Navy on 9 March 1942 at New London. She never left American waters, being stationed at Halifax (1942-43) and Bermuda (1943-44) for anti-submarine warfare training. She was refitted at Philadelphia. HMS P 512 was handed back to the United States Navy on 6 September 1944 and sold for scrap to the to the North American Smelting Co., Philadelphia on 16 November 1945. |
