HMS Dianella (Lt. J.G. Rankin, RNR) picks up 35 survivors from the British merchant Germanic that was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-48 south of Iceland in position 61º18'N, 22º05'W.

HMS Dianella also picks up 44 survivors from the British merchant Hylton that was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-48 south of Iceland in position 60º20'N, 18º10'W.

5 Jul, 1942
The British merchant Empire Byron is torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-703 in the Barents Sea in position 76º18'N, 33º30'E. 63 survivors are later picked up HMS Dianella (Lt. J. Rankin, RNR).
