History

USS West Virginia (Captain Mervyn Sharp Bennion) was sunk at Pearl Harbour on 7 December 1941. Refloated on 17 May 1942 she was then returned to the US for extensive rebuilding. She did not return from repairs until early July 1944. Decommissioned 9 January 1947.
Stricken 1 March 1959.
Sold 24 August 1959 to be broken up for scrap.
