History

HrMs Kortenaer (Lt.Cdr. Antonie Kroese) was sunk by a Japanese torpedo, most likely from the heavy cruiser Haguro (offsite link), during the Battle of the Java Sea in position 06º29'S, 112º05'E. Some 60 of her crew were killed in this action.
