Attacks on U-1232 during this patrol
14 Jan 1945
While attacking the convoy BX 141 (Boston - Halifax) the boat destroyed 3 ships but was instead counterattacked by the escorts. The Canadian frigate HMCS Ettrick rammed the boat causing extensive damaged to the tower, periscopes, radio. Thereafter she was depth charged heavily but managed to slip away. Due to those damages the boat aborted its successful patrol and headed for Norway, reaching base on Feb 14. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 649)
