Attacks on this boat and other events

26 Mar 1943
The boat was seriously damaged by 6 depth charges from a British Catalina from the Faeroe Islands (190 Sqn RAF, pilot J. Fish). The boat had to abort its patrol and return to Trondheim, Norway. The boat was deemed unfit for combat duties and was then transported to Kiel, Germany which she reached on 9 April. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 270)

1 recorded attack on this boat.

Men lost from U-boats

Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-339 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
