The boat was seriously damaged by 6 depth charges from a British Catalina from the Faraoe Islands (Sqdn 190, pilot J. Fish). The boat had to abort its patrol and return to Trondheim, Norway. The boat was deemed unfit for combat duties and was then transported to Kiel, Germany which she reached on 9 April. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 270)
