Attacks on this boat
24 May, 1940
Also in the North Sea, U-62 encountered an enemy submarine. The latter fired torpedoes on the U-62, but the U-boat was able to dodge them.
29 Jul, 1940
The British submarine HMS Sealion (Lt. Cdr. Ben Bryant) spotted U-62 as the latter was returning from patrol. Sealion fired 3 torpedoes but the Germans had seen its periscope and avoided the salvo. Sealion then surfaced and engaged with her deck gun and U-62 with just 27 minutes worth of recharged batteries submerged and eluded the British boat.
2 recorded attacks on this boat.
Men lost from U-boats
Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-62 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
