Descripton: Bav was the copilot of F/O Leslie Manser, who was awarded a posthumous VC on the Cologne 1000 Bomber Raid. Bav and four others of the crew escaped through Europe to Spain. All were awarded DFMs. He then transferred to Sunderlands, became a captain on 201 Sqn and sank two U-boats, U-955 and U-107. That on U955 was the first successful night attack using flares rather than the Leigh Light. For these attacks, and a successful location of the blockade runner "Alsterufer" Bav was awarded the DSO, DFC and Bar.
