Descripton: This is a truly exceptional book if only from the perspective of when it was written. Originally written in 1943, Mr. Casey did not get approval from the U.S. Navy Department to release the book until after the war's completion (in early 1943, the war for the Atlantic was still going Germany's way). Offers many biased opinions as to the character and qualities that make a U-boat, its crew and why it was such a powerful weapon. One mentionable quote is: "the servicemen of the U-boat are selected not so much for their skill but rather for their habits of personal cleanliness."
