Hi Joe,

Yes indeed, U-505 is sitting in a place of honor on the mantelpiece right now. It's well-assembled (because I didn't do that part) and rather badly painted (I tried hard, but it just didn't come out the way I hoped). It's still lacking a "radio wire", which I know can be represented by a bit of black thread, but just haven't got that far.

It's a Monogram/Revell 3102 which is labeled "U-505" and which was purchased at the museum store at the Museum of Science and Industry (home of the actual U-505). I checked the conning tower and there are definitely no horseshoes, so at least this version is not a recycled U-99!

This model was my husband's idea - "Let's build a model together!" It was fun, but in future I think I'll keep my hands off and just watch admiringly winking smiley This strategy will certainly make for a better end product!

So as you see, being inexperienced and also fatally inartistic, I don't foresee I'll be making too many helpful comments in this particular forum :)
