Hi Ray,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news re the Revell U-505. Nichimo makes a nice little type IXC, identified as U-511. Hopefully they're more accurate than Revell! The Nichimo kit is 1/200 scale and can be built as a waterline model. Lots of nice detail, for the scale of it. I have the kit, but haven't made it yet as I'm still cutting, blasting, filling, sanding and cursing the Revell kit as i try to make it a reasonable facsimilie of a later VIIC. I don't know if the Nichimo kit is still available.
