U-96 Type VIIc

Sometime in around 1939 or 1940, the net cutters were removed from the upper deck on the early type VIIc U-boats. Was the net cutter removed from the bow below the water line as well? The reason for the question is that I am building a OTW Type VIIc kit from England, and I want to get it as accurate as possible for the U-96 state/condition in the 40's....
