Bas,
I my research of the U-Boats colors and the infromation I have seen,
1. not have the real paint chips,
2. throw in the effects of the salt water, sun light,
3. only 1 coat of paint vs. the 2 coats used earlier in the war,
4. Where did they get the paint they used?
In the end, you have a VERY wide area use for what one can call the CORRECT color. When I entered the IPMS nationals in years passed, I found that correct color can vary widely, even on subjects that the color is well definded.
I think that if you are pleased with the outcome, then it's right.
Greg
