Hi Tim,
I agree with you about the bow and stern tone matching the deck. That's how I did my version of U-96. FYI - In addition, I removed the top deck mounted net cutter, but I left the lower bow net cutter in place. I have read that the Germans would not have wasted the manpower or acetylene to cut off the lower net cutter teeth...
