Hello Mr. Bruns,
Thankyou for your assistance. Perhaps you could shed some light on something else as well. When one looks at the type XX1 u-boat, it seems such a natural progression for the technology to have followed. What I recall from the very first operational submarines was a hull shape distinctly similar to our modern subs and the type XXl. It's a shape designers must've known worked exceedingly well even back in the early days. Why then the propensity towards hull shapes similar to surface vessels? It could only have been obvious that such a shape would slow the vessel down while submerged. And less streamlining would also result in more "noise" , thus easier detection for the enemy.
