well, about a week ago the local Taiwanese Navy opened their port for ppl to visit......and there were only those two Dutch boats.......the other two has been retired from active service, as stated correctly by rabbit.

They even allowed media to film the boats internally.......and its not exactly modernized.....but its certainly not WWII......more like 1950~60s designs......


Something aside here......but submarine warefare will be hard to conduct in the Taiwan strait.......because its so narrow and shallow........its very difficult for the less-modern submarines both the PRC fleet and the ROC navy currently uses.......they'll be more useful on the east coast of Taiwan......to create a partial blockade........while air cover prevents any shipping from the west side of the island. But then.....the US Navy will be in the way if the PRC submarines do head eastward of Taiwan............so its pretty slim that the submarines will have any major success.......since ASW warefare will be alot easier to conduct in shallow waters against aging equipment........
