Actually Rainer, you have answered my question to a "T". Of course I should have realized this. I mean I've toured through U995 - with a former U-boat engineer - several times. I should've thought more before asking the question.
So let me make sure that I have this right:
There are four engines in total: 2 diesel, port and starboard, and 2 e-motors, aft of the diesels, port and starboard. I think my confusion arose from reading about U-boats trying to make maximum speed by running on both e-motors and diesel but was having a time of it in visualizing the system.
I'm going to stew on your information for a bit and will likely have a few more questions for you. Thanks very much Rainer. Much appreciated.
