Hi guys
I have a look to the book "German U-BOAT type VII", and in page 12 can be seen a photo of U-47 conning tower with at least one side external (starboard) ventilation trunk duct.
Also it can be observed that she has been modified with the Turm 0 enlarged wintergarten.
We all can be speaking about the same U-Boat, but with different looks
depending on the date.
Almost no ship have a fixed appearance during her lifetime.
The question for modelers is: "What exact moment/date I want to represent with my model?"
In this case I think the modeler wants to represent U-47 about the date of
Scapa Flow raid.
After looking a lot of photos I can only affirm that, in this date ,U-47 has the small wintergarten, aft deck Flak mounting, and has not side external ventilation ducts trunks but ,you are right Joe ,I cannot assure whether she has or has not central ventilation duct or inner side ducts.
(See the famous photos in which the U-Boat is passing the greeting crews of
several warships at Kiel harbour on october 23th, 1.939).
Best Regards
