If the boat is at a depth of 150 meters, for example, she is under approximately 15 atmospheres of pressure. When the hull is ruptured that pressure is instantly transmitted to the interior. Bulkheads (and bodies) will fail under the shock load, and everything combustible will start to dieselize ahead of the flooding.
