Hi Don,
On the VII & IX\'s aft end port side on top of the \"Schanzkleid\" (solid part of the reling, just fwd of the wintergarden); intake for compartment air opposite side. This applies to the original short towers. On tower conversions there was extensive rerouting of the ductwork, which again was changed on schnorkel addidions.
No hard rule here, would have to look at shop drawing for answer. Rgds, RB
