I recall reading in either \"Iron Coffins\" by Herbert Werner or \"U-Boat Commander\" by Peter Cremer ( can\'t remember which one) that there were rumors of a rubber hull coating being developed to avoid ASDIC detection. Was such a rubber coating actually being developed or used? If so, did the anechoic coating found on modern submarines evolve from it?
