Roger that, Leif...
I got that info from a piece that William "Bud" Gruner of the USS Skate wrote re firing manual TDC for SH1.
I don't know the exact sequence of events: if the torpedoes are dorment until the firing signal is initiated, electrical/mechanical contact disengauged, high-pressure air expelling the Aal from the flooded tube, Aal engine running, gyros preset and angled rudder(s), building up to top speed after it makes it's turn, gyros straighten out the rudder(s) as it heads toward it's destination.
The angled rudder(s), while still inside the tube would present a drag on it's forward speed immediately upon forward movement. Twenty yards is probably pretty close to the mark imho
That + 90 meter figure would probably be correct, however, if the torpedo were to be travelling at top speed and then gyros would kick-in ... the 30/40 knot speed might cause it to carry a wider arc. Donno, for sure...pure speculation
Cheers
