Dear Woody,
one torpedo is engineered to sink in order to avoid capture. It has a negative buoyancy and mantains its pre-set running deep at the expenses of its stored energy. If sometimes it runs aground on a sandy beach and does not explode, it makes the opponent's Intelligence very happy. On the other hand I always wondered if a torpedo, sinking afer failing to hit anyting and having exausted his propellant, would ever explode because of deep water pressure.
Greetings
