Hi All,
I've heard that the Germans had a problem with their torps in that at the end of a run, the torp would sink and that water pressue would rupture the detonator, causing it to explode, and thus the warhead. Their solution was to fit a device which flodded the warhead at the end of the run and thus prevented the detonator from beign crushed. The reasoning behind this feature was that a torp detonating at the end of an (undetected) run would alert the escorts that they were under attack. As allied ASW technology got ever more sophisticated as the war went on, alerting the escorts to your presence with a failed attack ammounted to extreme foolishness.
