Thanks for the assistance. There's some interesting stuff on those sites, and I now know what an inner race is.
However, I am still not sure where exactly an inner race might be used in the head of a torpedo (British, circa 1943/44) - and its function in that position (as opposed to the tail). Has anyone any suggestions? Could it be in the exploder mechanism?
Regarding "trajectory" - this is defined in my dictionary as "path of any body moving under action of given forces".
