Thanks for that. Any idea why Schnee Organ did not proceed?

Seems to me - admittedly experience gained from playing Silent Hunter iii - that this would have been a hugely advantageous tactical concept. You only very rarely get into a good tactical position, and it tends not to repeat as you will be chased (or sunk!!) afterwards, so ability to fire off a large salvo, particularly from an escape-friendly rear position would have really helped.
