I have a pair of beh (Leitz?) 7X50 U-boat binoculars, serial number 444766 in excellent condition (although not in original case). I also have their provenance; they were taken (locally liberated!) from the captain of U 481 during the liberation of Norway in May 1945. I have done some research through this fantastic website and can see that the serving captain at that time was Klaus Andersen. I know that these glasses have a value (I have seen them on e-bay) and I suspect that having their provenance will potentially add to that, however I feel that Capt Andersen – if he is still alive – or his family - should be given the option to have these back. These glasses will mean more to them than to anyone else. Is there any way to find out who or where these people are?
