The shots they showed of the tiles made them look MUCH better preserved that I imagined!
If I had been down there, I imagine that shortly after freaking out and swallowing my regulator, I'd whip my dive knife out and start cutting samples off the hull to bring up and preserve.
I haven't watched the whole thing, my German is too rusty to make it worthwhile anyway I imagine, but do you know if any samples of the tiles have been brought up and preserved?
If it were me, I would be yanking everything off that boat that I could and then sending it off for preservation and display in a museum! That's far too valuable stuff, historically speaking, to let it sit there and rot away.
